| The Children of Johann & Auguste W. Kreitlow | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is information on 4 of Johann's 9 children. As you can see, there are still a lot of Kreitlows that haven't been flushed out yet! If you have family tree information that traces back to one of the missing siblings, please let us know. Thanks! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| August Kreitlow (1852-1940) married Paulina Goetske (1851-1930) and had 6 children. Burt, our resident genealogist, refers to August's family as "The Howard Lake Line" because he eventually settled in Howard Lake, Minnesota, after coming to America. |

| Herman Otto Kreitlow (1862-1951) married Bertha Block (1861-1949) and had 7 children. This group of "kids" and their descendants are referred to as "The Montrose Line" because Herman, a mason, built a stone homestead near Montrose. His granddaughter explains in the box below. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| In July, 2001 I asked Carolyn Kreitlow McCanless (now of Fountain Hills, AZ) about her grandfather Herman and his original home in Montrose. He was the mason of the family: "Montrose is a very small town and I'm not sure they even have street addresses. Anyway, Herman & Bertha's original property (that they homesteaded) is barely west of Montrose -- on the north side and bordering Hwy. 12. In later years, they lived right in Montrose (that's the place I knew as I was growing up). My Dad, Harry, became a farmer when I was 1 year old -- the farm is half way between Montrose and Buffalo (all in Wright Co.) and my sister, Ruth lives on that property and in the old house. Harry was a carpenter on the railroad and lived in Montrose and Minneapolis during that time. I was born in Montrose, the rest of my siblings were born on the farm (none of us in a hospital)." |
